10K Race at Dajia Riverside Park
Updated: Nov 12, 2019
Yesterday at 6:45am on Sunday morning, October 6, 2019, the 10K race was starting at Dajia Riverside Park in Taiwan's capital, Taipei.
Event of the day
Yes, more than 3,000 people ran 10 kilometers yesterday at Dajia Riverside Park, near Taipei's Shongshan Airport for the Pocari event.
There was a Taiwan Air Force show, with two helicopters carrying a huge national flag each, the show was beautiful with more helicopters and fighters flying over the air, it seemed we were protected from any invasion.
The race has had a tumultuous start, mainly because people don't have the same race pace, while some are just having fun, others want to get ahead to run at a serious pace and finish the race in just over 30 minutes. Imagine! 30 minutes to run 10Km, 3 minutes per kilometer, you have to have a lot of energy and breath to run that fast.
My friend and I run at our pace, pass the "stragglers" and follow the 5'50'' race pace, about 10.2 km/h, which is not fast compared to professional athletes, but a good pace for amateur.
The race was great, with quick stops along the way to drink water or isotonic and moving forward with plenty of energy to finish the race, by the way, you should eat well before running, eating carbohydrates like bread, energy bar and a banana, for example, never go running on an empty stomach.
I had the pleasure of finishing the race in less than an hour, completing 58'45'' and a new personal record, as well as being the fourth time in my life to finish a 10K race. Very pleasant and you can't describe the complete satisfaction of finishing such competition.
Next challenge will be 21K, Taipei Half-Marathon, on December 15th, 2019, we will be there!
